Regular Nutrition is the key!!
Aside from the basics of mowing and watering, the single most important thing you can do for your lawn is to provide proper nutrition by fertilizing. That's because no soil, even the richest topsoil, contains sufficient nutrients to produce an attractive lawn. Most folks nowadays realize that fertilizing is important. So they feed their lawn occasionally, maybe one or two times a year. With one or two more feedings, you can tell a big difference. However, no lawn fed just once or twice a year can ever look its best. That's because grass can't thrive on a feast or famine diet, and one or two feedings a year means that the lawn is going hungry most of the time. To develop a thick, hardy turf with a robust root system, the lawn must have a continuous supply of nutrients throughout the growing season. Because proper nutrition improves lawn strength, it also helps to prevent the problems that attack weak lawns. With an Annual Lawn Program, you will apply a fertilizer about every two months throughout the growing season. This generally works out to four applications a year. O. G. Myths and Facts: Myth: Fertilizing means more mowing Fact: It doesn't have to. But if you use a fertilizer composed of quick release nitrogen, grass will grow fast. Such fertilizers are a feast or famine diet for grass. A high quality fertilizer feeds lawns steadily, which means the grass grows steadily, too.
